"If you don't act as if your name were on the door, it never will be," – Pamela Fripp, president of the National Speaker's Association.

Welcome to Allison Candreva's Web site!

At 3 a.m., I'm usually awake, thoughts churning in my mind, creating lede after lede. Turning over to my nightstand, I grab a yellow notebook and write by the dim light of my cell phone. Though I'm barely awake, word after word flows out. I know I'm tired, but the journalist in me knows I'll forget these words if I don't put them down now. Like the relief after a good sneeze, it's all out.

They come in the middle of the night, those hooks that bring people in, waking me in the peak of my REM state. They sneak into my dreams, pushing me to wake up and assuring me it's worth it.

I am a fourth-year journalism student at the University of Florida. This is a site that I have created for my clips, resume and other projects that I have been involved in.

I've made a few strange turns in my life, even dabbling in the culinary field, but eventually, I ended up in UF's College of Journalism. I've faced tough classes, including reporting, but I've learned to love the AP Stylebook and have developed a great relationship with words and grammar.
